Thanks everyone who were hoping to see my comments last week! =D

I think this was a nice episode, I always say that but it's the truth, I can't lie, right? XD

Once again Madhouse x CLAMP makes an original (although not entirely) episode feels like something that came straight from the manga. I wonder how much input CLAMP gave to Madhouse in order to make this episode, seeing how we haven't been taken so deep into Fujimoto's past in the manga yet.

Teenager Sayaka is adorable with her pink cheekbones, she looked so determined putting those guys away, I loved her there =)

Great to see Misaki and Tamayo making a cameo, I didn't like the fact that the beer logo doesn't have the penguin as in the manga (how dare they remove the penguin? D=) but it's fine, Misaki and Tamayo were there =D

Too bad we probably won't be seeing Primera and Ringo giving away free ice cream D= Or maybe on another summer episode?

Ioryogi being all crumpled due to the heat was something very funny to see, specially the face he makes when Kouhaku gives him the beer XD I sensed a little bit of NHK censorship since we didn't actually see Ioryogi drinking the beer, but it's fine, at least they didn't change beer for a soda can ;)

And the last scene with Kobato teasing Fujimoto about his childhood? So adorable!

Next episode we will finally see Yumi, yey! Chirol bakery is always welcomed =) I thought they would make a Christmas episode around Christmas time but the story is currently in the summer season so I don't think it's gonna happen, it'll probably be the chocolate cigarettes story (the episode title seems to fit, "Detective Kobato"), although it won't be Valentine's either... xD

CLAMP IN AMERICA cover

Here is the cover of CLAMP IN AMERICA, the guide book which claims to be "the definitive history of the manga superstarts in the U.S.A.".

Good choice for the cover illustration, but I was expecting a new illustration. The colors look a bit twisted, but maybe it's the picture, and the cover design overall looks ordinary to me.

According to the publisher Del Rey, the book will be released in March 2010, costing $27.99.

Follow-up: New Code Geass Project in 2010

The January issue of Newtype magazine will announce that Code Geass will get a manga adaptation to be serialized in Kadokawa's monthly shonen magazine Shounen Ace. The manga will be drawn by Tomomasa Takuma.

This is part of the new Code Geass project that is planned for 2010, first announced during the Kiseki no Tanjoubi event (more info here).

The new project will also feature new music, products and visual works of the Code Geass franchise.

So far there won't be any direct CLAMP involvement in this new project, except that they will remain being credited for being the franchise's original character designers.

And here is something cool to share. A reader e-mailed me with this drawing that CLAMP did for the wedding of Mika Kikuchi and Yuuji Kishi (Mokona and Fuuma's seiyuus in Tsubasa). You might remember when I posted about their engagement a few months ago.

The wedding took place on December 4 and here is the drawing that CLAMP did for the occasion:

Also, Nanase Ohkawa attended the ceremony and here she is making a toast for the couple:

CLAMP amongst the 2009 Top 50 best sellers

Oricon has released a list of the Top 50 best seller comics in 2009 and CLAMP appears in the 49th position with XXXHOLiC #14, which sold 488.106 copies.

New Code Geass Project in 2010 (Updated)

Sunrise announced at the event "Kiseki no Tanjoubi" that Code Geass will have a new project in 2010. The event was held this Saturday in Japan to celebrate the birthday of the character Lelouch.

It is still not known whether it will be a new TV series, a movie or an OVA series, or even if CLAMP will be involved. More information should be announced in 2010. Stay tuned!

Just a quick follow-up about the second week of sales of Tsubasa #28. It dropped to the 12th position in Oricon's ranking:

• Oricon Weekly Ranking:

11/24~11/30

1st - Nodame Cantabile #23
2nd - REAL #9
3rd - Yotsubato! #9
12th - Tsubasa #28

Also according to Oricon, Tsubasa #28 sold additional 66.736 copies in its second week, making a total of 261.873 copies sold so far.

What a cute episode! This anime is overwhelmingly cute.

The cat is adorable, its actions looked so real XD

I was worried that Piffle Pizza wouldn't appear, but I was glad to see that in the end it did =)

When they were looking around for someone to keep Milk, it became very clear of the small "world" that has been established in this anime. They visited people and places that appeared in previous episodes, and that really helps to build this "world" which I mentioned.

I like concurrent characters, you know? I don't like when they introduce a supposed new character just for the sake of that episode and such character never appears again. What they are doing here is creating this world. They went to Chiroru, Kohaku's place, the natto tent from episode 1, etc.

And in the end the old lady to kept the cat is the same from episode 1! And that same lady will probably show up again when they throw the bazaar. I really appreciate those "connections" in a series. It makes you think that the lady is really living happily with the cat, she's not just some goner.

I think I made myself clear xD

I loved that even Doumoto showed up, and he is SUCH a nice guy, trying to find someone to keep Milk. Too bad he likes a straight guy, poor him xD

Tsubasa #28 Sales Report

Time to check the performance of the final volume of Tsubasa in the japanese rankings!

• Oricon Weekly Ranking:

11/16~11/23

1st - Detective Conan #66
2nd - FAIRY TAIL #18

According to Oricon, the regular edition of Tsubasa #28 sold 195.137 copies in its first week, very good! For comparison purposes, the regular edition of Tsubasa #27 sold almost 100.000 in its first week. This volume sold almost twice as much than volume 27 in the first week.

No sign of the deluxe edition in any of the rankings.

I think this episode had the worst animation so far? Somebody fire that animator, please XD But even the worst episodes animated by Madhouse still look better in comparison to BeeTrain or Production IG. For me at least.

A very original episode too, but one of the good things about this adaptation is that we get to see more of the secondary characters. In the manga, I don't know, I get the impression that CLAMP is just throwing a lot of characters, but I wonder if we'll get to see more or enough of them eventually. Because the monthly chapters have so few pages, there isn't much room left for the secondary characters.

For example, I loved to see more about Doumoto (although his hair looked WEIRD), and also Chiho and Chise (the hide-and-seek trick was fun xD).

I wonder if the same thing will happen in the manga and Kobato will eventually heal Doumoto. But I hope he will show up more, in an episode with a skillful animator where we can see his prettiness.

The anime series provides enough room to develop what couldn't be developed in the manga, everything with Ohkawa's approval, which is important.

Once again, although this particular story hasn't happened in the manga (but maybe it will), it looked like it did. I don't know why but Madhouse + Ohkawa just know how to do it.

Next episode we're back to the manga storyline. I wanna see the Bazaar already! =D

Continuing with the Tsubasa spree this week, vegetas scanned the full volume 28 of Tsubasa and some bits from the − ALBuM De REPRoDUCTioNS 2 − artbook (CLAMP's comments and the Omakes).

Tsubasa, Kobato. news

• Tsubasa:

The tankoubon edition of Tsubasa #28 has 9 additional pages from the epilogue chapter that were not printed in the magazine.

cutesherry scanned those pages and uploaded them here. The translation from those pages by starlady38 can be found here. Make sure to check them out!

The final Tsubasa volume has 268 pages. I think that's the largest tankoubon released by CLAMP to date? I don't remember how many pages RG Veda #10 has.

I was happy with the additional pages because they reveal a bit more about Fei Wang Reed's origins and somehow give a more satisfying idea of who he was.

• Kobato.:

Here's the cover of the first Kobato. TV Anime DVD (taken from the series' official website):

There will be a customer service available for those who buy DVDs 1 to 6 where applicants will be presented with a bottle made of glass just like Kobato's.

The limited edition of DVD 2 will come with an original Talk CD featuring Kobato and Kohaku, while the limited edition of DVD 3 will come with an Ioryogi plush toy strap (check the picture at the official website).

Lastly, Kadokawa will release an official guide for the TV series entitled TV Anime "Kobato." CHARACTERS COLLECTION. This will be released on January 29.

This was my favorite episode so far!

How cute everything was! The oh-so-adorable phone conversation with Okiura (HIS VOICE! OMG JAHJKAH!! SMEXY! I WANNA HAVE THAT VOICE *dork*), the hide and seek segment, the kids fooling Kobato around, so adorable!

So nice to see Genkou, Ginsei and Zuishou all introduced in one episode! I loved the voices for all of them. I was worried about Ginsei's voice (I kept thinking on Fye, Fye, Fye) but I forgot how versatile Namikawa can be. He sounds perfect! I loved the scene at the Baumkuchen's shop, so funny!! Loved Ioryogi and Genko's interaction.

I liked how they blended some Exam. elements, makes me think that we will see everything animated eventually, sooner or later.

The 4-leaf clover was nice too, because it reminded me of CLOVER XD~ *dork*

I'm really enjoying how this anime is turning out. So far no disappointments, quite the contrary! =)

Angelic Layer gets new DVD and Blu-Ray releases

The anime adaptation of Angelic Layer (originally aired in 2001) will get a new DVD Box release and, for the first time, a Blu-Ray release.

According to CD Japan, they will be released on March 26 and will feature pictured-label and digipack. Each release also include an original card.

The DVD Box will cost 25.200 yens and the Blu-Ray Box 47.000 yens.

I missed this show! I totally love it =D

From last week's preview, I thought this episode would be completely original, but it had a few manga elements. I really like how they blend original and manga elements in one episode, it makes the episode less original (and makes the series longer).

The story about the fireflies was cute xD The animation was a little odd in this episode, though.

Next episode we finally get to see the other creatures! Can't wait for it =)

The official website for the Tsubasa and XXXHOLiC OADs has been updated carrying now information about the upcoming XXXHOLiC OAD. Here are some specifications:

Original Animation DVD XXXHOLiC・Rou
Release date: April 23, 2010.
Running time: 40 minutes.
Price: 4,800 yens.
Privilege: Tall DVD case illustration drawn by CLAMP.

Staff and cast will be the same, and as I announced previously, Nanase Ohkawa will also write the script for this installment.

There will be a campaign for the reservations done by bookstores, you have to fill the reservation form (PDF available in the website), deliver it at a bookstore, take a picture of the bookstore and send the picture to a QR code that can be seen in the form as well.

The prizes of the campaign include tickets to the OAD premiere, which will be held in Tokyo in March, and a "Mu jet graph" (out of 5 available) featuring a new illustration drawn by CLAMP.

Very happy to know that this one will have 40 minutes! =D And lots of original goodies there. DVD case illustrated by CLAMP, new illustration for the campaign and there is also a premiere scheduled! I hope CLAMP will attend that one =)

"Kobato. Museum" report, Romantic World 31 pictures

Just a heads up that the official website of the Kobato. TV Anime added a report from the Kobato. Museum that is being held at the Ikebukuro Animate store until November 1st.

Update: Jun Fukuyama updated his blog to include some pictures of his upcoming album Romantic World 31.

Among the pictures, it's possible to see a new illustration drawn by CLAMP:
