Not much happening these days, huh?

Thanks for everybody who checks this livejournal daily in the hope to see CLAMP news, because we have some today!

As you may or may not remember, last year Kadokawa re-released some of CLAMP's classic titles under a series called CLAMP CLASSIC COLLECTION. For those who purchased all volumes, special boxes to store all volumes featuring new CLAMP illustrations were given as a bonus.

Even though the last volume of the series came out in November of 2012, only now the boxes have been sent out to the people who earned them.

Here are a few pictures from the 3 exclusive boxes, featuring 3 brand new drawings by CLAMP (click on the picture to enlarge it):

I was starting to think these boxes would never see the light of the day! I'm glad to see them -- and the new drawings!

There is also a new Kobato. illustration!

CLAMP made this drawing as a gift for Kana Hanazawa’s (Kobato’s seiyuu) first concert. It is part of the contents of the concert's special pamphlet.

CLAMP-NET.COM re-opens in May!

Did you all enjoy this year's amazing April Fools joke elaborated by CLAMP? That sure was fun!

Some kind soul from tumblr translated all of yesterday's Twitter activity from CLAMP's official account, where details from this parallel story set in a business office were revealed. Check it out here. Some of them are really amusing!

And since it's no longer April 1st in Japan, CLAMP-NET.COM no longer shows the special page that was available for the occasion. Instead, it now shows a "coming soon" image revealing that the website will be officially open in May!

Yes! Can't wait! =)

My guess is that they hired a new company to be in charge of their website and mobile services (the 404 pages look different than they used to look! xD), hence why the site had to be taken down temporarily.

Also I wonder if they really did create a company called ShigatsuTsuitachi CO., LTD?

CLAMP launches Shigatsu Tsuitachi CO.,LTD (April Fools'?)

CLAMP's official website, CLAMP-NET.COM, has been relaunched to celebrate April 1st.

The website now mimics the behaviour of a company website named Shigatsu Tsuitachi CO.,LTD, with CLAMP's characters as employees of that "company". "Shigatsu Tsuitachi" means April 1st in Japanese.

The "company" is supposedly recruiting employers for 2014, apparently only people who were born on April 1st are allowed.

The website is offering a wallpaper featuring the same illustration used in the homapage and a tumbler template featuring the company's mascot, April Dog.

CLAMP's Official Twitter account has been redesign as well to follow the website's new look.

It all looks like a April Fools' joke, and everything might be taken down on April 2nd, so make sure to grab the extras quickly before they are taken down ;)

I hope the "real" CLAMP-NET.COM will be launched on April 2nd, or maybe new information will be added progressively to this site? Either way, CLAMP certainly presented us with a real treat of an illustration.

So it looks like this is set in an earlier point of the story, when Yuuko is still "alive" and Watanuki still wears his glasses and maybe he doesn't even have half of Doumeki's eyesight.

Something is wrong with Watanuki... could this be a parallel story? Where is Mokona?

All in all, I am glad Yuuko is back... XXXHOLiC is weird without her.

GATE 7 #4 dropped to the 18th position on Oricon's Weekly Charts on its second week of sales, the position that was occupied by Drug & Drop last week:

02/11/2013~02/17/2013:

1st - FAIRY TAIL #36
2nd - Kuroko no Basket #21
3rd - WORST #31
18th - GATE 7 #4

Unfortunately, Drug & Drop didn't show up in the top 30.

According to Oricon, GATE 7 #4 sold additional 33.923 copies on its second week of sales, which means an accumulated of 173.686 copies sold so far.

It is unlikely that GATE 7 #4 will show up on next week's ranking, but I'll make a post if that happens.

On other news, there was a press conference held at the XXXHOLiC theme cafe yesterday to release the TV Drama adaptation to the press. Director Keisuke Toyoshima and main cast Anne (Yuuko) and Sometani Shota (Watanuki) attended the event.

The site so far seems to gather all the news and information about the current XXXHOLiC-related products and developments like the artbook release, the new manga series, TV Drama adaptation and the XXXHOLiC Cafe.

You can also see a very large version of the artbook cover. This page says that the artbook will come with 3 new illustrations drawn by CLAMP.

2013 is definitely going to be XXXHOLiC's year.

Drug & Drop #1, GATE 7 #4 sales report (Updated)

It's been 10 days since the joint release of Drug & Drop #1 and GATE 7 #4, the former landed on the 18th position of Weekly Oricon charts while the latter appeared on the 5th spot.

02/04/2013~02/10/2013:

1st - Kuroko no Basket #21
2nd - Toriko #23
3rd - Gintama #48
5th - GATE 7 #4
18th - Drug & Drop #1

Moreover, GATE 7 #4 sold 139.763 copies in its first week of sales, which represents a growth of 6,4% in comparison to the previous volume. This is the highest-selling first week for a GATE 7 volume so far.

Drug & Drop #1 sold 42.474 copies on its ~~first~~ second week of sales, which is around the same amount of copies that Kobato. #6 (final volume) sold in its first week of sales.

GATE 7 seems to be growing steadily on sales, while Drug & Drop started shy, but not a bad start. It is worth mentioning that Oricon lists Drug & Drop #1 as previously appearing on the 15th postion, that's probably taking into account pre-sales and stores that sold it shortly before the original release date.

Update: One correction in Drug & Drop #1 sales, the actual number of accumulated sales is 70.500 copies so far. That is because this is the second week of sales, having sold 28.026 copies in its first week. That's definitely good news!

I'll keep an eye open for next week's ranking, hopefully GATE 7 will make another appearance.

Drug & Drop + GATE 7 schedule update

Seems like CLAMP will be taking a small break this coming month.

According to the tweet above, Drug & Drop will be taking a break in the next issue of Young Ace magazine. On the other hand, even though GATE 7 is not taking a break next month, the next issue of Jump SQ will carry a short story of 5 pages instead of a regular chapter.

The updated schedule is as follows:

02/04 - Young Ace #3 - Chapter 13.
03/04 - Young Ace #4 - Break.

02/04 - Jump SQ #3 - Chapter 21 (on sale).
03/04 - Jump SQ #4 - Short comic (5 pages).

03/04 - Young Magazine #14 - Chapter 1 or 214 (?).

Not sure if they will resume the chapter counting from where XXXHOLiC Rou ended or start a new counting for XXXHOLiC Rei (sounds more likely to me).

• Code Geass Boukoku no Akito

The release date of the 2nd episode of Code Geass Boukoku no Akito has been postponed for Summer (it was originally expected for this Spring). ANN has more info:

The official website for the Code Geass: Akito the Exiled video series announced on Tuesday that the second volume has been delayed from this spring to this summer. The website also presented a new piece of key visual art. The anime's production committee apologized for the delay and said that the release date and other details will be announced on the home page and Twitter account as soon as they are decided.
The first episode opened in theaters in August. The series is planned for four episodes.

The 1st episode of Code Geass Boukoku no Akito was released in DVD and Blu-ray today in Japan.

• XXXHOLiC

The titles of the first 6 episodes of the XXXHOLiC TV Drama were revealed:

Episode 1 - 縁 (Connection)
Episode 2 - 対価 (Compensation)
Episode 3 - 百物語 (100 Stories)
Episode 4 - エンジェルさん (Angel-san)
Episode 5 - 紫陽花 (Hydrangea)
Episode 6 - 女郎蜘蛛 (Jorougumo)

Judging by these titles, we can tell which arcs have been confirmed to appear on the series. Looks like they decided to cut the arcs with creatures in it, which makes sense from a live action adaptation point of view.

• CLAMP-NET.COM

For those who were worried about CLAMP's official site shutting down since the beginning of this month, rest assured, the site will be back... eventually!

On summary of the March issue of JUMP SQ (out Feb. 4), CLAMP left a comment saying that the website is currently closed but they are working on its relaunch and ask people to check their twitter account in the meantime.

There you go, our prayers have been heard! haha

So they are working a new version that will be relauched soon. I suspected that, but they shouldn't have left us in the dark like this =P They should have said something when they closed it down (they should add something in the main page right now, in fact).

It would be great to have the relaunch in April, but that's just my assumption.

Already looking forward to this!

11 new XXXHOLiC TV Drama stills

A month away from its premiere, Comic Natalie published 11 new stills from the upcoming live action adaptation of XXXHOLiC. You can check them all here.

According to the article, Naoto Takenaka will play the role of Ayakashi in the form of a doctor (and not Haruka Doumeki as I suggested).

New subscribers of the WOWOW channel will enter a chance to win original goods featuring an illustration drawn by CLAMP such as clearfiles, mousepads and postcards.

The official website for the XXXHOLiC TV Drama has been renewed with a few new pictures, new comments from CLAMP and two video teasers. Unfortunately, the videos are not available if you're outside the Japanese territory.

Still, make sure to check out the new site! Was anyone able to watch the videos yet?

Here's a summary of the new comments from CLAMP (*spoilers ahead*):

- They haven't made any special requests for this adaptation. They left everything in charge of the director and the staff.
- Their favorite scenes upon reading the script were the beginning, when Watanuki meets Yuuko, and the ending.
- They confirm the absence of Mokona in this adaptation, and recognize that it would be difficult to have it as a plush toy or CG, even though they would really like to see Mokona in a live action.
- In the case of the TV drama becoming a regular series, they would like to see more of Anne's performance and Watanuki as the shop's owner in "Rou".

So there is the chance of having more than the 8 episodes planned for this series. Let's hope it'll be successful enough for that to happen! It's a shame that CLAMP's involvement was practically nil this time... but it's understandable since this is a completely new field for them. Let's hope they did a good job!

For those interested about the thematic XXXHOLiC Cafe, its special menu has been revealed at the cafe's hotsite, it looks very tasty.

The poster below announces the beginning of the XXXHOLiC Rei serialization for Young Magazine #14, to be released on March 4. The return was scheduled for February, but it was probably delayed to March due to the incident regarding Young Magazine and a picture of AKB48 idol (read more about it here).

Also, the XXXHOLiC artbook release has been pushed back to the end of March, this time it seems to be definitive. The artbook title will be XXXHOLiC Kochou no Yume (Butterfly's Dream).

Animate.tv has an interview with actress Anne, who will play Yuuko in the upcoming XXXHOLiC TV Drama.

In the interview, Anne says she was reader of XXXHOLiC and a big fan of the series since she was a teenager. Because of that, she was allowed to give some input on the TV Drama production, for example, on Yuuko's costumes and speeches. She also mentions having followed other CLAMP works such as Magic Knight Rayeart, Chobits and most recently, GATE 7.

According to her, she hasn't met the CLAMP members yet, but she is looking forward to that day.

I was also able to understand a part where she says Yuuko doesn't repeat the same costume twice in the TV Drama, which is good ;)

The XXXHOLiC TV Drama will air on WOWOW channel for 8 weekly episodes, starting February 24.

To promote and celebrate the TV Drama, WOWOW and PASELA RESORTS are launching a thematic cafe inspired in XXXHOLiC for a limited time.

The cafe was decorated in order to feel like Yuuko's shop, some of the props and decoration objects are the same as those seen in the TV Drama. Customers will also be able to enjoy a special menu inspired on XXXHOLiC.

Looks really, really nice!

Our predictions that it would feature Hana and the white tiger were right on! Each volume Hana is featured with the 4 animals of the Chinese constellation: the Vermilion Bird (volume 1), the Azure Dragon (volume 2), the Black Tortoise (volume 3) and the White Tiger (volume 4). Now I wonder how the cover of volume 5 is going to look like... any guesses?

The good thing about CLAMP moving to twitter is that now the covers are posted in a much higher resolution.

GATE 7 #4 goes on sale on February 4, along with Drug & Drop #1 (there is going to be a campaign for it!).

On a sad note, for those who haven't seen it yet, CLAMP-NET.COM has official closed last Monday. As previously mentioned, all news are being now posted on their twitter account @CLAMP_News. Hopefully this is only temporary, even if it takes a long time for the website to be reopened.

Drug & Drop #1 cover

I really like it! I am glad they've kept Gouhou Drug's black&white visuals, even the cannabis makes an appearance (which is nice, I thought it had gone for good). I don't understand why they didn't include the series' logo, but the title typography looks good too.

I think the art is slowly getting back to how it used to be, it might never reach the same level as Gouhou Drug, but it looks better than the first few chapters of Drug & Drop.

Drug & Drop #1 will be released on February 4, along with GATE 7 #4 (there is going to be a campaign for it!)

As I mentioned, this was originally posted on CLAMP's official twitter account. Since Janurary 1st, CLAMP-NET.COM is no longer being updated. The site is still online, it hasn't been shut down, but hasn't been updated since. All news are being posted on CLAMP's official twitter.

2012 Retrospective

It's that time of the year again to look back and see what happened of most important on the activities of CLAMP.

As we all could predict by the end of the previous year, 2012 was an extremely uneventful year. CLAMP members (more precisely, Mokona) were under medical treatment in order to cure a lumbar compression fracture. Due to that, CLAMP's activities this year were much weaker than the last few years.

Thankfully, they publicly stated at the CLAMP FESTIVAL 2012 in Nagoya that they are fully recovered now, so hopefully we can expect the upcoming year to be a lot better for them, and for us!

Let's take a look of what made news in 2012, and what awaits us in 2013!

• January:

- A film project of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion is announced. No more information has been given up to this point.
- Release of Tokyo Babylon #1 (CLAMP CLASSIC COLLECTION).

• February:

- Release of RG Veda #2 (CLAMP CLASSIC COLLECTION).

• March:

- Release of 20 Mensho ni Onegai!! (CLAMP CLASSIC COLLECTION).

• April:

- CLAMP celebrate their 23rd Anniversary as professional manga creators. Their official website, CLAMP-NET.COM, was re-designed on April 1st to celebrate the "CLAMP Day".
- As part of a April Fool's joke, CLAMP drew the illustration for the cover of the fake magazine "Shounen ARIKA". The image was posted in ARIKA's official website.
- Release of Tokyo Babylon #2 (CLAMP CLASSIC COLLECTION).
- CLAMP wrote the text and drew an illustration for the foreword of Junichi Fujisaku's new mystery novel Tsukareruna! (ツカレルナ！). Junichi Fujisaku worked as one of the scriptwriters of BLOOD-C.

• May:

- Release of GATE 7 #3. It ranked at the 4th place on its release week.
- Release of RG Veda #3 (CLAMP CLASSIC COLLECTION).
- An interview with the editor of GATE 7, Shuhei Hosono, was published in Mantan-Web. Check out the highlights of this interview here.

• June:

- Release of BLOOC-C: The Last Dark on Japanese theaters.
- CLAMP drew the cover illustration for the novel adaptation of BLOOD-C The Last Dark, released on the same day as the movie.
- Release of CLAMP Gakuen Tanteidan #1 (CLAMP CLASSIC COLLECTION).
- A BLOOD-C x CLAMP exhibition was held at the PARCO art gallery in Tokyo, Japan.

• July:

- CLAMP drew an illustration of "Ultraman's sister" that was shown on the Fuji TV game show OMOJAN.
- The stage play MOON SAGA started its run featuring GACKT in the lead role and producer, and CLAMP collaborated on costume design and original concept.
- Release of RG Veda #4 (CLAMP CLASSIC COLLECTION).
- A rough design of the original fashion doll "momoko" that CLAMP created for PetWORKS was revealed.

• August:

- Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito Episode 1 is screened in selected Japanese theaters.
- A first look at the original momoko doll designed by CLAMP was revealed. The doll was called PW-momoko ae < CLAMP >. CLAMP also drew an illustration of the doll to promote its release.
- Release of CLAMP Gakuen Tanteidan #2 (CLAMP CLASSIC COLLECTION).

• September:

- Release of the CLAMP 2013 Desktop calendar. The new illustrations featured the CLAMP characters in chibi format.
- Release of the original mook "CLAMP Pia" (CLAMPぴあ).
- Release of Tokyo Babylon #3 (CLAMP CLASSIC COLLECTION).
- The production of a XXXHOLiC TV Drama was announced for early 2013.

• October:

- CLAMP started drawing illustrations for Mizuki Tsujimura's new novel series entitled "Haken Anime!", published every Wednesday in an・an magazine.
- Release of Gakuen Tokkei Duklyon (CLAMP CLASSIC COLLECTION).
- The Tokyo edition of the CLAMP FESTIVAL 2012 was held.

• November:

- The Osaka edition of the CLAMP FESTIVAL 2012 was held.
- Release of RG Veda #5 (CLAMP CLASSIC COLLECTION), the last volume of the CLAMP CLASSIC COLLECTION series.

• December:

- The first official picture of the XXXHOLiC TV Drama cast was releaved. The show will run for 8 episodes on WOWOW channel starting February 24.
- A campaign between Shueisha and Kadokawa to celebrate the double release of GATE 7 #4 and Drug & Drop #1 was announced. CLAMP drew a new illustration that will be used for the campaign goods.
- The Nagoya edition of the CLAMP FESTIVAL 2012 was held. CLAMP members this time were able to attend the event where they did talk show. It was revealed by them that the XXXHOLiC manga would be resumed in a new series entitled XXXHOLiC ◆ Rei. The serialization will begin on February in Young Magazine.

What to be looking forward to in 2013:

- XXXHOLiC TV Drama starting on February 24 (8 weekly episodes).
- XXXHOLiC ◆ Rei new manga series beginning in February.
- XXXHOLiC artbook.
- BLOOD-C: The Last Dark DVD & Blu-ray release in February.
- Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito Episode 2 on Spring.
- ...and of course, the serializations of both GATE 7 and Drug & Drop.

On other news, it looks like CLAMP-NET.COM is really going to shut down on January 1st. According to this last message, from January 1st onwards all news will be posted on CLAMP's official twitter account: @CLAMP_News.

I'm not sure what to think of this change. It's definitely sad that the site is going to shut down, I don't think it's a good idea to make twitter the only source of information. I hope this is just a temporary measure and that the website re-opens again in the future.

XXXHOLiC TV Drama news (Updated)

The official website for the XXXHOLiC TV Drama was updated with more information and additional cast members.

The site's background illustration now shows a first look at the inside of Yuuko's shop (it looks great!). You can check out the image here.

Actors Naoto Takenaka and Yumi Adachi. Yumi Adachi will play the role of Spider Lady (Jorogumo), and although I don't have official information on Naoto Takenaka, I am inclined to believe he will play Haruka Doumeki.

Personally, I'm happy about Naoto Takenaka, I really liked his work in Nodame Cantabile. Yumi Adachi seems like a perfect choice for Spider Lady as well. So it looks like the show in a total of 8 episodes will go as far into the story as the Spider Lady arc, which is nice!

There are some changes in the staff list, too. Before, Jun Tsugita and Keisuke Toyoshima were both listed as directors and scriptwriters. Now, Jun Tsugita is listed as scriptwriter alone and Keisuke Toyoshima as the only director.

Last but not least, the show's start date has been announced: February 24, a Sunday.
